In men, that ascending route almost always passes through the prostate. That's how a simple bladder infection becomes prostatitis, which becomes chronic in roughly one out of four cases.

Antibiotics treat the infection, not the cause.

The pattern is always the same. Infection. Two weeks of antibiotics. Symptoms clear. Three months later, it's back. But during all that time, no one has touched the structural cause. The disposable protection is still there. Nappy, pad, it doesn't matter which. The terrain hasn't changed. That's exactly why clinical guidance is now moving towards absorbent underwear, which breaks the cycle at the root.

The clinical consensus is shifting away from disposable pads and nappies, and towards modern absorbent underwear. The reason is simple. It lets the skin breathe, avoids moisture buildup, and helps men feel normal again.
